About Marathon Baseball

The Marathon Baseball Program is made up of many different opportunities. There is a City League which is available for all kids between 1st grade and 6th grade.  The kids in 7th and 8th Grade are eligible to play in the Bronco League, which is a travel league with other towns in the area during summer. These Bronco League players also could possibly join the American Legion group of players in summer with the boys that play on the High School Varsity Team.  Marathon is also very fortunate to have enough kids in most classes to form Travel Teams, which are just randomly put together teams that travel from town to town and play multiple tournaments and events per year throughout the state.

Regardless of what teams the boys are involved with, we as a community should work together and stress the importance of teamwork, hustle, effort and the willingness to be coached.  Though we spend a lot of time practicing with all of these groups, the success of your child starts at home if they want to become a better player.  Take the time to play catch or pitch your son some balls.  You don't have to know anything about baseball to help them become better at a sport they like to play. Don't leave this solely in the hands of your coaches, most of who are just volunteers sharing what they know.

Lastly, regardless if you are wearing a business sponsored City League jersey or a Marathon Baseball jersey, we want the kids to understand how they are representing themselves, their teams, their leagues and their communities when these jerseys are on.  Whether your son plays all his games in Marathon or they travel all over the state, there is a responsibility that comes with wearing the jerseys that we provide.  Marathon has a great baseball history and we're all fortunate to be a part of that tradition.  Make the people of Marathon proud and represent our town in the most positive manner.

Thank you.   Ron Kunkel - Marathon Youth Baseball Coordinator
